In order to develop a future proof federated concept of platforms, the FEDeRATED project has executing a both-feet-on-the ground approach that:

• Involved the builders.
• Made use of what is already available.
• Supported rationalisation, harmonisation and interoperability.
• Invited public and private parties to co-operate and execute tangible pilots and living labs.
• Connected all parties concerned, also those that normally do not co-operate.
• Focussed on use  cases aimed at data exchange for business services and compliance procedures
• Created an information platform and knowledge base for all parties.
• Established a reference framework approach
